Taking Authority Through The Word Of God By Vitus Ejiogu 08/26/2011
2 Comments

The word "authority" sometimes makes our heart to skip, because anytime it is mentioned, it reminds us of our duty to obey orders hence authority itself is the power or right to give orders and make others obey them. Human beings find it very difficult to cope with those in authority, yet authority greets us anywhere we go, for instance, wrongdoers have the watchful eyes of the police to contend with, children and their parents in the home, and the citizens with those who have the authority of the government in what they do.

Authority, though a strong word, has a way of shaping our lives. As human beings, the authority we have is what makes us different from the next person. A man without authority can likened to vegetables. Christians, children of God, have authority in three realms - the heavenly, supernatural and physical realms.

The spirit realm operates by the Word of God, whereas the natural realm is controlled by man's speaking the Word. As clear and revealing s that is, the Word of God is the creative power, or ability, that we need to operate or control the activities that go on in these realms. God's Word can only be useful to anybody when there is believe in it, and its power activated. When one believes the Word of God, the truth one speaks affects the facts one sees. The fact may indicate that your body is sick, but according to the Word of God, the truth is that you are healed by the stripes of Jesus.

The Word of God is explosive in that it can change and rearrange circumstances. What your present circumstance is saying now does not really matter. What matters is what the Word of God is saying about your circumstance. That is why it is very important for you to stir up and get yourself aligned with the Word of God. To stir yourself is to get excited about God's Word, taking firm hold upon God, believing His counsel implicitly, as well as the things that have been proclaimed to you and about you by His Spirit.

The times in which we live are such that should cause us to rise unto passionate concern for the perishing lot in this generation. We should stir ourselves to appreciate the Word of God and its urgency in advocating the preaching of the Gospel to save the lost (Jude 22, 23). It is our duty to apply our minds to thoughtful considerations of some issues at stake - the infallibility of God's Words vis-à-vis the apparent conspiracy and rebellion against God caused by the organized kingdom of darkness, in their violated bid to sink the entire world into hell fire. Taking authority through the Word of God in times like this, is to stir up our spirits through fervent prayers, hearty outcry, praying in the Holy Ghost (Isaiah 64:7; Jude 20).

When apostle Paul applied his mind to what he saw at Ephesus vis-à-vis the counsel of God, his spirit was stirred up in him (Acts 17:16). So many things are going wrong in the world today against the will of God. Staying quiet and unconcerned over these issues can mean the difference between life and death. Change can only take place when you decide today to take authority over them through the World of God. The power to create a change is already within you. Now hear Jesus: "Behold, I give unto you POWER...!" (Luke 10:19). That is the authority you have to create a change: NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE UNTIL YOU HAVE COMMANDED IT TO CHANGE!

How To Walk Out Of A Deceptive Life By Vitus Ejiogu 08/26/2011

Most people find it difficult to differentiate good from evil. People who live deceptively are sometimes applauded and decorated in public places for doing a "good" job. In both public and civil service, we see people who act in ways that do not really tell others about themselves.

In the public and civil service, numerous scandals involving fake academics and corrupt politicians, are the order of the day. Nigeria once had a leader in the National Assembly who brandished fake academic qualifications, ever since, cases of such magnitude have never stopped to surface, even though they were smartly covered up. People in the lower ranks of the public service may actually engage in such unholy acts, but it sounds unthinkable for persons in line of succession to any country's Presidency, to be caught in deceptive acts.

In Nigeria, the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives is not only revered, it is sacrosanct. In succession to the Nigerian Presidency, after the President of the Senate and Vice President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives is the third in line. Accordingly, the National Assembly which is the nation's law-making body is to lead by example. Its leaders, who are highly respected, both nationally and internationally, even though they are chosen in an indirect election conducted within the House by its members, are to be the torch-bearers of the nation. They are the light that lightens the dark places of the country. They are the salt that brings out the taste of the Nigerian nation, but renders the nation insipid when caught in unholy acts.

Living in a world that is in opposition to the will of God, it should not surprise us to hear of deceptive tendencies in both high and low places. The Bible tells us that the activities of evil men and impostors will always get to the highest peak as they keep deceiving people and the same time being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13). They will continuously make others to believe falsehood as truth and accept wrong as right. However, as God's children, our defense against deception remains the Word of God, because "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Word of God helps us to set right what is wrong, and to make known what is right. It also makes us aware of these wrongs, prompts us and teaches us to do what is right.

When we read and apply God's Word, we are not only thoroughly equipped for good work which makes us people of integrity, but it helps us walk out of a deceptive life. We detect errors easily as we read God's Word, and it helps us to practice what is right with godly fear. When you are not in God, deception flows through you like water finds its tributaries, but the moment you surrender to Him, you are lifted!

Nothing Just Happens: Decoding the Coded Message By Vitus Ejiogu 08/26/2011

The dictionary interprets the word "code" as "a collection of laws arranged in a system". That means a systematic arrangement of rules and principles which has been accepted by society or a class or group of people. It is also a system of signs, secret writing, etc used to ensure secrecy. To "decode" is simply finding the meaning of something written in code.

One of the challenges of our shared journey, as human beings living here on earth, is to keep discovering the importance of what we already know. It is to attach a significant meaning to almost every thing that happens around us. Hearing a cock crow in the morning can be taken by almost everybody as the usual alarm of the clock of nature announcing the dawn of a new day, yet to so many people, that sound is pregnant with meanings.

Before Jesus went to the cross, He predicted that His disciples will abandon Him and run away. Simon Peter who took the prophecy personal, vowed that he would never deny Him. Jesus told him: "...before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice" (Matthew 26:31-34). The crow of the cock shall be a reminder to Peter for having done what he swore not to do. To every other person, the crow of the cock was normal, but to Peter, it meant something else which only him and his Master could understand.

On that early Easter morning, Peter failed. He denied Jesus and immediately the cock crowed. The message was passed - heaven's coded call that Peter had begun to slide dangerously down. The message which was heard as a sound from a cock by every other person, hit Peter like a thunderbolt. It was meant for him alone to understand, and so he wept bitterly.

At the time of the global flood, the rainbow that appeared in the sky seemed like a mere decoration, but to Noah, it was a coded message - the token of the covenant that there would never be another deluge like the one he and his people suffered (Genesis 9:12-17).

The story of the man with a jar of water in Luke 22:10-13 was a coded message. To every other person, the man was just a simple domestic servant who was doing his usual chores, yet Jesus' disciples would need his assistance to get to their destination. Jesus had earlier instructed His disciples to look for this man and follow him into whichever house he may enter. The reason is because the owner of that house was to be the host of the last supper, and the only sure way to locate him was to follow his servant home.

In Matthew 6:25-31, Jesus also drew people's attention to the flowers in the fields and the little birds in the sky. To some people, these creatures are nothing but God's vegetational and aerial decorations. Only few people understand their importance as God's eternal voice to humanity, that He cares about us.

God speaks to us in so many ways. He has put His signature in everything that He created. That is, everything is an instrument in God's hand - a coded message. This signature of God that is so evident in nature is also present in His people. This is why every person you meet on the road is so delightfully different and carrying a coded message. Even the life you live is a coded message, and so your achievement is based on how good you are in cracking the code. When you look around you, there are things that happen which follow certain rules and principles. The message is this, if you do not understand the rules, you will not be blessed. In life, nothing just happens!
