The word "authority" sometimes makes our heart to skip, because anytime it is mentioned, it reminds us of our duty to obey orders hence authority itself is the power or right to give orders and make others obey them. Human beings find it very difficult to cope with those in authority, yet authority greets us anywhere we go, for instance, wrongdoers have the watchful eyes of the police to contend with, children and their parents in the home, and the citizens with those who have the authority of the government in what they do.
Authority, though a strong word, has a way of shaping our lives. As human beings, the authority we have is what makes us different from the next person. A man without authority can likened to vegetables. Christians, children of God, have authority in three realms - the heavenly, supernatural and physical realms.
The spirit realm operates by the Word of God, whereas the natural realm is controlled by man's speaking the Word. As clear and revealing s that is, the Word of God is the creative power, or ability, that we need to operate or control the activities that go on in these realms. God's Word can only be useful to anybody when there is believe in it, and its power activated. When one believes the Word of God, the truth one speaks affects the facts one sees. The fact may indicate that your body is sick, but according to the Word of God, the truth is that you are healed by the stripes of Jesus.
The Word of God is explosive in that it can change and rearrange circumstances. What your present circumstance is saying now does not really matter. What matters is what the Word of God is saying about your circumstance. That is why it is very important for you to stir up and get yourself aligned with the Word of God. To stir yourself is to get excited about God's Word, taking firm hold upon God, believing His counsel implicitly, as well as the things that have been proclaimed to you and about you by His Spirit.
The times in which we live are such that should cause us to rise unto passionate concern for the perishing lot in this generation. We should stir ourselves to appreciate the Word of God and its urgency in advocating the preaching of the Gospel to save the lost (Jude 22, 23). It is our duty to apply our minds to thoughtful considerations of some issues at stake - the infallibility of God's Words vis-à-vis the apparent conspiracy and rebellion against God caused by the organized kingdom of darkness, in their violated bid to sink the entire world into hell fire. Taking authority through the Word of God in times like this, is to stir up our spirits through fervent prayers, hearty outcry, praying in the Holy Ghost (Isaiah 64:7; Jude 20).
When apostle Paul applied his mind to what he saw at Ephesus vis-à-vis the counsel of God, his spirit was stirred up in him (Acts 17:16). So many things are going wrong in the world today against the will of God. Staying quiet and unconcerned over these issues can mean the difference between life and death. Change can only take place when you decide today to take authority over them through the World of God. The power to create a change is already within you. Now hear Jesus: "Behold, I give unto you POWER...!" (Luke 10:19). That is the authority you have to create a change: NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE UNTIL YOU HAVE COMMANDED IT TO CHANGE!
I am somehow bothered about how to conquer moral problems, but your write-up has started putting me on a better footing. I would like to hear from you please.
